'To live is to leave traces.'
Benjamin W. 1999
As Benjamin said, we have left innumerable traces behind on everyday objects in spaces in our awake. His words give me an opportunity to consider the terms of 'traces', that is to be intrinsically woven into my project. How to shift traces into artworks or designs, rather than something that is worn-out or useless?
This project aims to investigate the relationship between trace and daily activity, capturing the moment of traces from my body, daily objects and architectural elements in domestic space. Equally, it is concerned issue how to compress time. And also this is based on experiments of possibility to take the trace by domestic elements. Obviously, this raised the question of how to capture the trace marvelously in routine.
I documented the work as an artworks and this patterns show the ritual repetition. The things what I like this practice is capturing the moments of traces rather than finding trace left behind, and unexpected result.
